House Made Pate at Jean Pierre's
I know I still owe you a review of my trip to France, and I still plan to write it, but first I wanted to write a quick review of a restaurant that recently opened in Celebration;
Jean Pierre Signature French Bakery Delicatessen
17 Blake Blvd.
Water Tower Plaza
Celebration FL 34747
(321) 939-7588
Jean Pierre’s is a new family run restaurant that takes great pride in serving quality food and offering exceptional guest service. French food is difficult to find in Florida as the American palette seems to fight against the quality of the French cooking. Sadly, Jean Pierre has already removed the buckwheat crepes from the menu because people complained that they weren’t what they expected (meaning they were not sweet). He’s also had to adapt the style of service.  In his native France serving you lunch and bringing the check in under an hour would be an egregious offense, you may as well go to McDonald’s however in the states we expect to eat and get out.
If you are looking for a quick meal,  just let the waiter know when you sit down, otherwise you’ll be treated to a nice leasurely meal. And if the place isn’t too busy you may be treated to conversation with the owner. The menu includes many Bistro favorites; Omlettes, Sweet and savory crepes, nicoise salad, warm goat cheese salad, onion soup (mmm), “Soupette de Fifi” which is a wonderful creamy vegetable and ham soup made according to a family recipe, Croque monsieur and Croque Madame, Quiche and main dishes such as Beef Bourguignon. Entrecote (rib steak) and Coq au Vin. Prices are very reasonable with the most expensive item being the Entrecote at $18.95. The atmosphere is very causal, seating inside and outside is wrought Iron garden furniture and the walls are covered in classic French prints.
On our last visit Bill and I split the Pate which is a house made  congac based recipe served on fresh toasted baguettes. It simply reaffirmed my new devotion to pate.  I had the Soupette Fifi (my third time having it, it’s so good the memory of the flavor haunts me until I go and get it again) Bill had a ham and cheese crepe and then Jean Pierre brought us a strawberry crepe for dessert. Our entire meal was $32 and we were stuffed!
They offer wines by the bottle and by the glass.
If you have the chance to go I highly recommend it.
